ClO₂: Targeted Control of H₂S & SRB
Without Over-Treating Your System
Chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) can be precisely dosed to reduce hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and suppress sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) without the excessive oxidation that drives up costs and corrosion risk. Drawing on studies by Okoro and Wu, this paper shows that modest ClO₂ concentrations—often under 1 mg/L—significantly inhibit SRB activity, improve re-injection water quality, and lower MIC potential. By focusing on measured microbial reductions rather than blanket overdosing, operators can achieve reliable souring control while protecting infrastructure and reducing chemical spend.
